My daughters’ instructor is teaching her to block change from 4 to 1 and 5 to 2 etc, I was taught to change down the gears, when we go out for a drive we argue over this, who is right?
It is certainly a good idea in the very early stages of learning to drive to practice changing one by one, but this is unnecessary in the mid to later stages of learning, in general use the bakes to slowthe car down then pick the most appropriate gear for the new speed, however it is also beneficial to talk and deal with eventually slippy roads with ice or snow for the changing gear one at a time issue.
